Viticultural Year
The year was characterized by some fluctuations in annual temperature and precipitation values in relation to the historical value, considering a normal and dry year. This year’s productivity is slightly higher than the average of the last 10 years, with a long, cool and rainy harvest. The musts are of good quality, fresher, slightly less alcoholic, enhancing the characteristics of wines to be consumed young.
Vinification & Aging
Grapes from Quinta da Cismeira, located in S. João da Pesqueira, right in the heart of the Douro, at an average altitude of 300 meters, with east-south exposure. Manual and careful harvesting into 15 kg boxes in mid-September. Destemming and crushing of bunches and cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation followed in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24°C for 8 days. 40% of the batch was aged in stainless steel tanks, 30% in French oak barrels and 30% in American oak barrels, for 18 months. Bottling in April 2025.
Consumption
Serve between 16°C-18°C with oven-baked meat dishes and braised game. Can be consumed immediately or be kept for 5 to 6 years, if in good storage conditions and in a horizontal position.
