Viticultural Year
The year was characterized by large temperature fluctuations and lower than normal annual precipitation, considering it a dry year. The climatic conditions led, in the initial phase, to a slight advance in the vegetative cycle in relation to the average of the last 5 years, which gradually attenuated throughout the cycle. Despite the occurrence of high rainfall during the month of April, the climatic evolution recorded subsequently contributed to an excellent phytosanitary quality of the bunches on the harvest date.
Vinification & Aging
Grapes from the Cismeira estate, located in Vilarouco, in the municipality of S. João da Pesqueira, at an average altitude of 300 meters. Manual and careful harvesting into 15 kg boxes in mid-September. Destemming and crushing of bunches and cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation followed in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24°C for 8 days. 70% of the batch was aged in French oak barrels and 30% in American oak barrels, for 18 months. Bottling in July 2021.
Consumption
Serve between 16°C-18°C with oven-baked meat dishes, braised game and soft cheeses. Can be consumed immediately or be kept for 10 to 15 years, if in good storage conditions and in a horizontal position.
